A. J. Aalto is a Canadian author of urban fantasy and horror, born in 1973 in St. Catharines, Ontario. She is best known for The Marnie Baranuik Files, a series following a paranormal investigator navigating vampires and the supernatural underworld, beginning with Touched (2011) and continuing through Death Rejoices (2013), Last Impressions (2014), and Wrath & Bones (2015), later collected as The Marnie Baranuik Files: Omnibus I (2022). She returned to the series after a hiatus with Dear Departed (2024). Aalto's writing blends noir-inflected mystery plotting with dark comedy and graphic horror elements.
