Adam Jay Epstein is an American author and screenwriter, born in 1975 in Great Neck, New York. Working frequently with writing partner Andrew Jacobson, he co-wrote comedy screenplays including Not Another Teen Movie and Extreme Movie, and later moved into children's fiction with the pair's fantasy series The Familiars, beginning in 2010 and continuing across four books that follow young apprentice-animal companions to wizards, which won recognition from the E. B. White Read Aloud Award. He and Jacobson also created the Starbounders series and wrote for animated television, including episodes of Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters and Super Dinosaur. Epstein's career spans screenwriting and children's fantasy fiction, often in close collaboration with the same writing partner.
