Adam Oyebanji

Adam Oyebanji is a Scottish-Nigerian author born in Coatbridge, Scotland. His debut novel, A Quiet Teacher, a crime thriller published by Severn House, marked his entry into fiction outside of genre work. He is better known for his science fiction, including Braking Day, a generation-ship novel following a young engineer nearing the end of a centuries-long voyage, and its follow-up Esperance, which continues the story after the ship's population must adapt to an unexpected discovery; Esperance was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction. Oyebanji's fiction blends hard science-fiction concerns about generation-ship engineering and society with close attention to character and the tensions of inherited, closed communities.
