Adam Sternbergh

Adam Sternbergh is a Canadian-born writer and journalist, raised in Toronto and based in New York City, who spent years as a culture editor before turning to fiction. His debut novel, Shovel Ready (2014), introduced Spademan, a hitman navigating a near-future, terror-scarred New York, and was shortlisted for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel; he continued the series with Near Enemy (2015). Reviewers have described his prose as executed with "dark alert panache," and his dystopian New York settings owe a clear debt to classic cyberpunk noir. Sternbergh has continued to write journalism alongside his fiction.
