Alan Campbell

Alan Campbell is a Scottish novelist, born in Falkirk in 1971. He studied computer science at the University of Edinburgh and worked for years as a video-game programmer, contributing to titles including Body Harvest, Formula One 2000, and entries in the Grand Theft Auto series at DMA Design and Rockstar North. After finishing work on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City he turned to writing and photography, debuting with Scar Night (2006), the first novel of the Deepgate Codex trilogy -- a dark, steampunk-inflected fantasy centered on a city suspended over an abyss housing a fallen god. He continued the trilogy with Iron Angel and God of Clocks, and began a second series, the Gravedigger Chronicles, with Sea of Ghosts (2011). Campbell received an Inkpot Award in 2013 for his contributions to fantasy literature.
