Alex Scarrow

Alex Scarrow (born 1966) is an English novelist from Norwich who worked as a rock guitarist, graphic artist, and video game designer—on titles including Waterworld and Evolva—before turning to fiction. His thriller Last Light (2007), depicting Britain's collapse after a global oil crisis, launched his career as a novelist of large-scale catastrophe. He is best known for the nine-book young-adult series TimeRiders (2010-2014), following three teenagers rescued from certain death who are recruited to guard the timeline against paradox, spun off into the Ellie Quin series and further time-travel adventures. Scarrow has also written the post-apocalyptic Re-Made/Plague Land books and contributed short fiction to the Doctor Who universe. He converted an unproduced screenplay into his first novel and continues to blend a games-industry sense of pacing with speculative disaster premises.
