Alison Croggon

Alison Croggon (born 1962) is an Australian writer born in the Transvaal, South Africa, who moved to Australia as a child. Alongside fiction she has worked as a journalist for the Sydney Morning Herald, as arts editor for The Saturday Paper, and as a theatre critic, having founded the online literary magazine Masthead. She is best known for the Pellinor quartet - published in the US as The Naming, The Riddle, The Crow, and The Singing - an epic fantasy following a young woman with hidden magical gifts in a world under threat from an ancient evil, later extended by the prequel The Bone Queen. Croggon is also an acclaimed poet; her debut collection, This Is the Stone, won the Anne Elder Award and the Mary Gilmore Prize, and she received the Pascall Prize for Critical Writing for her theatre criticism blog.
