Alison Goodman

Alison Goodman is an Australian author, born in 1966 in Melbourne, who writes young-adult fantasy, science fiction, and crime fiction. She is best known for the Eon/Eona duology -- published in some editions as The Two Pearls of Wisdom and Eona -- a crossover fantasy about a girl disguised as a boy competing to become a dragon-magic apprentice, which was translated into twelve languages, and for the Lady Helen trilogy, a Regency-set fantasy beginning with Lady Helen and the Dark Days Club. Her debut novel, Singing the Dogstar Blues, blended science fiction with a boarding-school setting. Goodman holds a master's degree in creative writing from RMIT University and has taught creative writing at university level. Her honors include the Aurealis Award for Best Young Adult Novel and a James Tiptree, Jr. Award Honor Book citation.
