Allen L. Wold is an American science fiction and fantasy author born in 1943 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. His debut novel, The Planet Masters (1979), introduced a decadent colony world, and he followed it with the space opera Star God (1980). He is also known for the Rikard Braeth sequence—Jewels of the Dragon, Crown of the Serpent, and The Lair of the Cyclops—which follows a wanderer across the outback planet Kohltri in a blend of planetary romance and Wild West atmosphere. Wold ventured into fantasy with The Eye in the Stone and wrote three tie-in novels for the 1980s television series V. Beyond fiction, he co-authored nonfiction books on artificial intelligence and computing, including The Science of Artificial Intelligence, reflecting a career spanning multiple corners of speculative fiction.
