Amelie Wen Zhao is a French-born, Chinese-American author of young-adult fantasy. Born in Paris and raised in Beijing, where she grew up immersed in stories of legendary heroes and ancient kingdoms at her grandmother's courtyard house, she later moved to the United States for college and now lives in New York City, working by day in finance. Zhao is best known for the Blood Heir trilogy (Blood Heir, Red Tigress, Crimson Reign), a fantasy about a princess with forbidden blood magic, and the Song of Silver, Flame Like Night duology, drawn from Chinese mythology and history. She continues to travel regularly to China with her family, research that feeds directly into her fiction's settings and folklore.
