Andrew Caldecott

Andrew Caldecott is a British barrister and novelist, born in 1952 and educated at Eton and Oxford. A leading King's Counsel specializing in defamation and privacy law, he represented the BBC at the Hutton Inquiry and The Guardian at the Leveson Inquiry, alongside a roster of prominent clients. Alongside his legal career, Caldecott writes fantasy fiction, beginning with the Rotherweird trilogy - Rotherweird, Wyntertide, and Lost Acre - set in an English town that has cut itself off from the rest of history to guard a secret buried in its own past, blending whimsical invention with a slowly unspooling mystery. He followed it with the Momenticon duology, Momenticon and Simul, built around devices that trap fragments of memory and time. His fiction is noted for dense wordplay and a large cast of eccentric characters.
