Andrew Harman

Andrew Harman (born 1964 in the United Kingdom) is a British author of farcical comic fantasy who studied biochemistry at the University of York. He was a prominent voice in 1990s British humorous fantasy, publishing through Orbit with the five-book Firkin series, beginning with The Sorcerer's Appendix and set in the pun-laden kingdoms of Rhyngill and Cranhan, and continuing with standalone comic novels including The Deity Dozen, A Midsummer Night's Gene, and Talonspotting. His books are dense with wordplay and titles punning on well-known works, drawing comparisons to Terry Pratchett; Waterstone's Guide called him "one of the most ingenious and energetic writers of humorous fantasy." Since 2000 Harman has largely stepped back from novels to run YAY Games, an independent British board- and card-game publisher.
