Andy Davidson is an American writer of Southern Gothic horror, raised in Arkansas. He debuted with In the Valley of the Sun, a vampire novel set against the landscape of the rural South, and went on to publish The Boatman's Daughter and The Hollow Kind through MCD/Farrar, Straus and Giroux, whose marketing has described him as one of contemporary horror's rising voices for atmospheric, character-driven Southern gothic fiction. His most recent novel is Changes. Across his catalog, Davidson returns to landscapes of rural decay, inherited trauma, and family secrets, treating supernatural horror with literary ambition rather than genre convention, and pairing folklore-inflected menace with a strong sense of place.
