Anne Eliot Crompton

Anne Eliot Crompton (1930-2011) was an American author from Northampton, Massachusetts, who wrote fiction for children and general readers, publishing more than twenty books over her career. She is best known for a sequence of novels retelling Arthurian legend, including Merlin's Harp, Gawain and Lady Green, and Percival's Angel, alongside the earlier historical novel Warrior Wives. Crompton also contributed to genre anthologies, including Bruce Coville's Book of Monsters. Her Arthurian fiction is catalogued primarily as historical and legendary adaptation aimed at younger and general audiences, part of a broader career spent retelling myth and history in accessible prose.
