Ari Marmell is an American novelist and game writer born in 1974, raised largely in Houston, Texas, and a graduate of the University of Houston. He built an extensive career designing tabletop role-playing supplements for White Wolf Publishing and Wizards of the Coast before turning to fiction with novels including The Conqueror's Shadow and its sequel The Warlord's Legacy, dark fantasy following a retired warlord dragged back into conflict. He is also known for the Widdershins Adventures, a young-adult fantasy trilogy beginning with Thief's Covenant, following a temple-raised thief navigating a city of gods and gangs, and for standalone fantasy including The Goblin Corps, which follows a squad of monstrous soldiers as reluctant antiheroes. Marmell has also written tie-in fiction for the Darksiders video game franchise.
