Arthur H. Landis

Arthur H. Landis (1917-1986) was an American writer born in Birmingham, Alabama. As a young man he fought in the Spanish Civil War with the Abraham Lincoln Brigade's Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion, an experience he later documented in the non-fiction books The Abraham Lincoln Brigade and Spain: The Unfinished Revolution. In 1969 he founded and edited the fantasy magazine Coven 13. In genre fiction he is remembered for the Camelot series - A World Called Camelot, Camelot in Orbit, The Magick of Camelot, and Home - to Avalon - following an Earth "Adjuster" sent to civilize a sword-and-sorcery world where magic actually works, blending science fiction with heroic fantasy. The novels were published by DAW Books.
