Auburn Tempest

Auburn Tempest is a pen name of Canadian novelist JL Madore, used for urban fantasy written "without the sexy-steamy" alongside Madore's more overtly romantic work under her own name. Writing as Tempest, she favors alpha heroes and capable, wisecracking heroines thrown into chaotic, fast-paced magical trouble, across series such as the Chronicles of an Urban Druid, Guardians of the Fae Realms, and the Boston Magi Chronicles, several of them co-written with fellow indie fantasy author Michael Anderle. The books favor humor and momentum over grim stakes, aiming for satisfying, largely comic resolutions rather than the darker tone common in urban fantasy. Tempest lives outside Toronto, Canada, with her partner of more than thirty-five years and an extended household of family, friends, and animals.
