Ausma Zehanat Khan

Ausma Zehanat Khan is an American-Canadian novelist born in Leicester, England, who now lives in Denver, Colorado. She holds a doctorate in international human rights law from the University of Ottawa, specializing in military intervention and war crimes in the Balkans, and practiced immigration law and taught human rights law before serving as editor-in-chief of Muslim Girl magazine. She won the 2016 Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel for The Unquiet Dead, which launched her Rachel Getty and Esa Khattak crime series. Khan also writes fantasy, most notably The Khorasan Archives quartet—The Bloodprint, The Black Khan, The Blue Eye, and The Bladebone—which follows women warriors and scholars resisting a book-burning tyrant in a world drawing on Central and South Asian history and myth.
