Barry Jonsberg

Barry Jonsberg is an Australian author of children's and young-adult fiction, born in 1951 in Liverpool, England. He studied English and psychology at Liverpool University and worked as a college lecturer in Crewe before relocating to Australia in 1999, where he became a prolific and award-winning writer for younger readers. His novels include The Whole Business with Kiffo and the Pitbull and My Life as an Alphabet, winner of the 2013 Children's Peace Literature Award, alongside the dystopian Pandora Jones series, which follows teenagers isolated at a remote island facility after a global pandemic, beginning with Dreamrider. Jonsberg has been shortlisted for numerous Australian literary prizes, including the NSW Premier's Award, the Queensland Literary Awards, and the Victorian Premier's Prize for Writing for Young Adults, making him a significant figure in Australian YA fiction.
