Benedict Jacka

Benedict Jacka is a British fantasy author born in London in 1980. He is best known for the twelve-book Alex Verus series (2012-2021), urban fantasy following a diviner who runs a magic shop in London while navigating the city's hidden mage factions, supplemented by two companion novellas. He began a new sequence, An Inheritance of Magic, in 2023. Earlier in his career he wrote children's fiction under the "Ninja" name. Jacka's work is known for tightly plotted magical systems and a grounded, contemporary London setting.
