Bernd Perplies (born 28 February 1977 in Wiesbaden, West Germany) is a German science-fiction and fantasy author, translator, and journalist. He studied film studies, German literature, book studies, and psychology in Mainz, then worked at the German Film Institute in Frankfurt, editing the film portal filmportal.de, while also translating for publishers including Heel Verlag and Pegasus Spiele. His debut novel, Tarean - Sohn des Fluchbringers (2008), placed third for Best German-Language Debut Novel at the 2009 Deutscher Phantastik Preis. Perplies has since written extensively within shared universes, co-authoring the Star Trek: Prometheus novels with Christian Humberg and contributing to the Perry Rhodan NEO series, blending original fantasy world-building with franchise tie-in fiction.
