Betsy Haynes

Betsy Haynes is an American author, born in 1937 in Benton, Illinois, who has written nearly eighty novels for children and young readers across mystery, comedy, history, and horror. She is best known for the Bone Chillers series, a run of short, humor-inflected horror novels for middle-grade readers that includes titles such as Frankenturkey, Beware the Shopping Mall, and Welcome to Alien Inn, as well as for the long-running Fabulous Five and Taffy Sinclair series. Her stand-alone novel Deadly Deception was recognized as an American Library Association Quick Pick and named to the New York Public Library's Books for the Teen Age list. Haynes's fiction is characterized by accessible, fast-paced plotting aimed squarely at young readers, blending comedic tone with mild horror or mystery hooks.
