Bree Despain

Bree Despain is an American young-adult author born in 1979 in Salt Lake City, Utah, who holds a master's degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is best known for the Dark Divine trilogy, beginning with her 2009 debut The Dark Divine, about a pastor's daughter drawn to a childhood friend harboring a werewolf-like secret, continuing through The Lost Saint and The Savage Grace. She followed it with the Into the Dark trilogy, comprising The Shadow Prince, The Eternity Key, and The Immortal Throne, which reimagines the myths of Persephone and Hades alongside Orpheus and Eurydice in a contemporary setting. Despain has said a serious car accident convinced her to commit to writing full-time. Her fiction centers on forbidden romance layered over mythological and religious undertones.
