Brian Hodge

Brian Hodge is an American novelist, essayist, and musician based in Boulder, Colorado, working primarily in horror and dark crime fiction. Since his 1988 debut, Dark Advent, he has published numerous novels including Nightlife, Wild Horses, and The Immaculate Void, alongside short fiction collections such as Lies & Ugliness and Skidding Into Oblivion. He also contributed the tie-in novel Hellboy: On Earth As It Is in Hell. Hodge's fiction is known for exploring unique and fringe belief systems and the psychological undercurrents beneath ordinary American life, often blending literary prose with visceral horror set pieces. He has won the International Horror Guild Award for Best Short Fiction and remains an active presence in the contemporary horror short-story scene.
