Brian Yansky is an American author born in Iowa in 1957, known for young-adult science fiction set in the near future. He is best known for the Sangrian Invasion series, published by Candlewick Press, which opens with Alien Invasion & Other Inconveniences and continues in Homicidal Aliens & Other Disappointments: after telepathic aliens called Sangrians conquer Earth in the name of an evolved ecological consciousness that regards humanity as a threat to the planet, a teenage protagonist must learn to survive occupation and resist the invaders. Yansky also wrote the contemporary novel Utopia, Iowa, and has continued publishing YA and middle-grade fiction, including the humorous Librarian series and the Poe Detective Agency mysteries.
