Bridget Collins

Bridget Collins is a British author and actor, born in 1981, who began publishing young adult fiction, several titles with fantasy elements, under the name B. R. Collins, starting with The Traitor Game (2008). She later turned to fiction for adult readers with The Binding (2019), a fantasy in which stories can be physically extracted from their tellers and bound into books, stripping the teller of the memory. Its follow-up, The Betrayals (2020), is set at a remote mountain university built around a ritualized, high-stakes intellectual game, with clear echoes of Hermann Hesse's The Glass Bead Game, though centered on a woman as the community's presiding master rather than a man. The Silence Factory (2024) continued her run of atmospheric, myth-inflected adult fiction. Collins's work is marked by its interest in storytelling itself, who gets to tell a story and what it costs them, rendered through richly imagined, faintly gothic settings.
