Brittany Cavallaro

Brittany Cavallaro is an American poet and novelist born in Springfield, Illinois, in 1986. She began her career in poetry, publishing the linked collection Girl-King and the chapbook Unhistorical, which reimagines Sherlock Holmes and Watson in an apocryphal Scottish adventure. She turned to young adult fiction with the Charlotte Holmes series, beginning with A Study in Charlotte, following a modern descendant of Sherlock Holmes who inherits his powers of deduction while facing a rival tied to Moriarty. Her Muse series, opening with Muse and continuing in Manifest, is set in an alternate nineteenth-century America ruled by a royal dynasty descended from George Washington, blending steampunk invention with court intrigue. Cavallaro's fiction consistently reworks historical and literary source material into speculative new forms.
