Bruce Boston

Bruce Boston (1943-2024) was an American speculative-fiction writer and poet born in Chicago and raised in Southern California. After earning degrees in economics from UC Berkeley, he worked as a computer programmer, technical writer, and college literature instructor before establishing himself as one of the field's most prolific poets, blending science fiction, horror, and surreal imagery across collections such as Masque of Dreams and Visions of the Mutant Rain Forest. He was a Rhysling Award-winning and Bram Stoker Award-winning poet, and became the first Grand Master named by the Science Fiction Poetry Association. His Mutant Rain Forest sequence, exploring a fungal apocalypse, and the dark domestic satire of Accursed Wives are among his best-known series.
