Bryan Chick

Bryan Chick is an American children's author best known for The Secret Zoo series, published by HarperCollins across six books between 2010 and 2023. The series grew out of a memory from his own childhood: at age nine, he visited a zoo in Detroit and imagined what might happen if the exhibits held secret doors that let children slip inside and animals wander out into the world. He began developing the first novel in 2007, and the completed series, including Secrets and Shadows, Traps and Specters, Riddles and Danger, and Raids and Rescues, was later collected in a complete box set. Chick concluded the series with The Final Fight and Wayfinders, bringing a story rooted in childhood wonder about zoos and hidden worlds to a close.
