C. K. Kelly Martin

C. K. Kelly Martin is a Canadian novelist from Mississauga, Ontario, and a film school graduate who describes herself as a humanist living with chronic illness. She writes character-driven contemporary and speculative fiction for young adults, including the science-fiction duology Yesterday (2012) and Tomorrow (2013), and later expanded into adult horror and science fiction under the pen name Cara Martin, distinguishing that work from her YA novels. Her literary horror novel Shantallow, published as Cara Martin, was shortlisted for the 2020 Ottawa Book Award and longlisted for the Sunburst Award. Martin has received a Canada Council for the Arts grant and has been praised by Quill & Quire, Kirkus, and Booklist for fiction that treats teen experience without adult-crossover softening.
