Caiseal Mór

Caiseal Mór was an Australian author, musician, and artist, born in Brisbane in 1961 to Irish immigrant parents; Gaelic was his first language, and he trained on Celtic harp as a child. Diagnosed as an autistic savant, he later wrote about the experience in the memoir A Blessing and a Curse: Autism and Me. His fiction draws on early medieval Irish and Scottish history and myth, weaving themes of religion versus spirituality, gods and spirits, and magic against a backdrop of encroaching technology. He is best known for two connected trilogies, The Wanderers, opening with The Circle and the Cross, and The Watchers, along with the Wellspring trilogy. The Tilecutter's Penny was shortlisted for Best Novel at the 1999 Ditmar Awards. Mór died in 2023.
