Caroline B. Cooney

Caroline B. Cooney (born 1947) is an American author of suspense, romance, and mystery fiction for young adults, with more than eighty published novels. She is best known for The Face on the Milk Carton and its sequels, following a teenager who recognizes herself on a missing-child flyer and slowly uncovers her own kidnapping, and for the time-travel Time Travelers/Both Sides of Time quartet, in which a modern girl slips into Victorian-era New York. Her extensive Point Horror-era output includes The Fog, The Stranger, and Freeze Tag, alongside standalone thrillers such as Code Orange (2005) and the historical novel Goddess of Yesterday (2002). Her books have earned numerous state young-readers' choice awards and ALA Best Book and Quick Pick recognitions, with Diamonds in the Shadow receiving an Edgar Award nomination. Cooney did not finish a college degree, beginning her writing career while raising three children.
