Cate Tiernan

Cate Tiernan is the pen name of Gabrielle Charbonnet, an American writer born in New Orleans in 1961. She began her career as an editorial assistant at Random House in New York, where she wrote her own first children's books and worked on L. J. Smith's The Secret Circle, before returning to New Orleans and beginning the Sweep series (2001-2003), her best-known work, following a teenage Wiccan's discovery of her heritage and magical community. Writing under her own name, she has published numerous series for younger readers, and since 2005 has been one of James Patterson's regular collaborators, co-writing installments of Witch & Wizard, Maximum Ride, and other young adult franchises. Over her career she estimates she has written around seventy-five books under her own name, as Tiernan, and under other pen names as a ghostwriter.
