Charles G. Waugh

Charles G. Waugh is an American anthologist and academic born in Philadelphia in 1943, whose prolific career centers on co-editing themed science-fiction and fantasy short-story collections, frequently alongside Isaac Asimov and Martin H. Greenberg. Their long-running joint anthology series paired Asimov's name recognition with Waugh and Greenberg's editorial work on volumes organized around a single conceit, knights, devils, curses, comets, spells, monsters, and the solar system among them, collected under titles such as Cosmic Knights, Devils, and The Science Fictional Solar System. Waugh also contributed to the multi-volume Mammoth Book of science fiction anthologies, organized by decade, and to franchise collections including Isaac Asimov's Magical Worlds of Fantasy. Across a bibliography exceeding a hundred books, Waugh has been one of the genre's most active anthology editors rather than a writer of original fiction.
