Cherie Priest is an American novelist, born in Tampa, Florida, in 1975 and now based in Seattle. She holds a bachelor's degree from Southern Adventist University and a master's in professional writing and rhetoric from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and worked for years as a book reviewer and staff member at Subterranean Press. She writes across horror, Southern Gothic, and science fiction, and is best known for the Clockwork Century, a steampunk alternate history of the American Civil War that began with Boneshaker (2009), winner of the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel and a finalist for the Hugo and Nebula Awards. Her other series include the ghost-detective Eden Moore novels and, more recently, the comic mystery Booking Agents series.
