Chris Priestley

Chris Priestley is a British author and illustrator, born in Hull in the late 1950s, who trained at Manchester Metropolitan University and worked for years as an illustrator and cartoonist for The Times, The Observer, and The Economist before turning to children's fiction. He is best known for the Tales of Terror series, five volumes published between 2009 and 2012, including Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror and Tales of Terror from the Black Ship, and for the novel Mister Creecher (2010), winner of the Book Award St Helens in 2012. Earlier work included Death and the Arrow, an Edgar Award nominee, and Redwulf's Curse, winner of the Lancashire Fantastic Book Award. His fiction, translated into German, Dutch, and other languages, is known for reviving the classic ghost-story tradition for younger readers.
