Christopher Buehlman

Christopher Buehlman is an American author born in 1969 in Tampa, Florida, working across horror, dark fantasy, and historical fiction. His early novels, including Those Across the River (2011) and The Necromancer's House (2013), established him in literary horror, blending Southern Gothic atmosphere with folklore and the supernatural. He shifted toward epic fantasy with The Blacktongue Thief (2021), a picaresque, war-scarred fantasy narrated by a debt-bound thief, which was a finalist for major genre awards, and its sequel The Daughters' War (2024). Buehlman is also an accomplished poet and performer, having won the Bridport Prize for poetry in 2007, and has worked as a playwright, comedian, and touring renaissance-festival entertainer under the persona Christophe the Insultor.
