Clay McLeod Chapman

Clay McLeod Chapman is an American horror novelist praised by filmmaker Jordan Peele as one of the genre's most inventive current storytellers. His novels include Ghost Eaters, The Remaking, Whisper Down the Lane, What Kind of Mother, and Devil Inside, which became a USA Today bestseller in 2026, alongside several story collections and a middle-grade series, The Tribe. Ghost Eaters is in development as a film with Screen Gems, to be directed by Maggie Levin. Beyond fiction, Chapman has worked as a screenwriter and performer, co-writing an unpublished book that became the basis for the animated film Wendell & Wild. His work is known for grounding visceral horror imagery in questions of trauma, addiction, and grief.
