Craig Martelle

Craig Martelle is an American writer of military science fiction and space opera. Raised in Iowa, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in both enlisted and officer ranks, later earned a law degree, and worked as a business-diagnostics consultant and leadership coach before retiring to write full-time; he now lives in Fairbanks, Alaska. Martelle is one of the most prolific voices in independently published space opera, with series spanning colonization, genetic engineering, and interstellar conflict, including Terry Henry Walton Chronicles, Judge, Jury, & Executioner, Darklanding, Free Trader, The Expanding Universe, and The Bad Company, several co-written with other authors in the genre. He has cited Robert Heinlein and Andre Norton as influences on his approach to accessible, adventure-driven science fiction.
