Craig Thomas

Craig David Thomas was a Welsh novelist, born in Cardiff on November 24, 1942, and one of the earliest practitioners of the modern technothriller. He is best known for Firefox (1977) and its sequel Firefox Down (1983), which follow the theft of a Soviet fighter jet equipped with a thought-controlled weapons system; the first novel was adapted into the 1982 film of the same name. Thomas wrote eighteen novels in total, including Moscow 5000 (1979), published under the pseudonym David Grant, and Sea Leopard (1981). Much of his later fiction formed a loosely connected series of Cold War-inflected thrillers centered on advanced weapons and international crises. He died in Somerset, England, in 2011.
