Dale Aycock is an American science-fiction author born in 1935 in the San Joaquin Valley, California, who now lives in Los Gatos. Active since the early 1980s, she belongs to the South Bay Branch of the California Writers Club and the World Future Society. Her debut space operas, Starspinner and Stardrifter (both 1981), introduced pilot Christopher Marlowe's fight to keep an invading power from seizing control of Earth and an interstellar trading magnate's entanglement in galactic conspiracy, respectively; she returned to the former story decades later with Starspinner II: Last Man Standing (2007). Her later novels include Star's End, Dark Minds, and Firewing. Critic Greg Costikyan praised Starspinner on its release as "an above-average science fiction novel" with a "relentlessly fast-paced plot," calling Aycock "a writer to watch."
