Dan Gutman

Dan Gutman is an American author of children's fiction, born in 1955 in New York City. He began his career editing computer and video game magazines in the early 1980s before shifting to writing for young readers, saying it took him years to realize that what he was actually good at was writing for kids. He is best known for the Baseball Card Adventures series, beginning with Honus & Me, in which a boy travels back in time via vintage baseball cards to meet legendary players, and for the long-running, pun-filled My Weird School series. He has also written The Genius Files, The Kid Who Ran for President, and the Flashback Four series. Gutman lives with his wife, illustrator Nina Wallace, whom he met after hiring her as a freelancer.
