Daniel Waters

Daniel Waters is an American author of young-adult fiction, born March 14, 1969, and based in Connecticut. His best-known work, Generation Dead, reimagines the zombie genre as a story of teenage undead students integrating—uneasily—into an otherwise ordinary American high school, and continued through the sequels Kiss of Life and Passing Strange, along with the novella collection Generation Dead: Stitches. He also wrote Break My Heart 1,000 Times, a ghost story following a teenager who can see the dead lingering among the living, and My Best Friends Are Dead. Waters's fiction consistently reworks horror and supernatural tropes through a contemporary young-adult lens, pairing social outsider themes with genre staples like zombies and ghosts.
