Darcy Coates

Darcy Coates is an Australian author of horror, gothic horror, and suspense fiction. She began self-publishing in 2013, built a following through a run of haunted-house novels, and signed with Sourcebooks around 2019 after The Haunting of Gillespie House marked a turning point in her career. Her prolific output centers on atmospheric, character-driven ghost stories and slow-burn dread rather than graphic violence, spanning standalone haunted-house tales such as The Haunting of Ashburn House, The House Next Door, and Craven Manor alongside the continuing Gravekeeper series and the post-apocalyptic Black Winter books. Coates has become one of the most widely read independent voices in modern horror fiction, publishing at a steady pace across more than a hundred titles while keeping to a recognizable house style of creeping, old-fashioned haunting.
