David B. Coe is an American fantasy writer who also publishes as D. B. Jackson. He holds a Ph.D. in U.S. history from Stanford University, having decided against an academic career to write fiction full-time from 1994. Under his own name he is known for the LonTobyn Chronicle, the Winds of the Forelands quintet, and the Case Files of Justis Fearsson urban fantasy series; as D. B. Jackson he writes the Thieftaker Chronicles, a series of murder mysteries set amid the magic and unrest of pre-Revolutionary Boston, and the time-travel Islevale Cycle. He has won the Crawford Fantasy Award and co-founded the Magical Words group blog for genre writers. He lives on Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau.
