David Edison

David Edison is an American author born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 3, 1977. His debut novel, The Waking Engine (2014), began a projected series mixing science fiction and fantasy, built around a multiverse that human characters can access only after death, structured across a plane resembling Earth, a purgatorial dystopian city-world, and a further realm called the City Unspoken. Edison's second novel, Sandymancer (2023), moved to a different desert-world setting after a multi-year gap between books. His fiction is distinguished by dense, maximalist world-building and a willingness to combine afterlife mythology with science-fictional multiverse theory rather than treating them as separate genre traditions.
