David Gibbins

David Gibbins is a Canadian-born underwater archaeologist and novelist, born in 1962 in Saskatoon to British parents, who taught at the University of Liverpool and the Institute of Nautical Archaeology before becoming a full-time writer in 2002. He is best known for the Jack Howard series, following a fictional maritime archaeologist through globe-spanning historical-thriller plots, beginning with his debut Atlantis (2005), which was published in thirty languages, and continuing through titles such as Crusader Gold, The Last Gospel, and Pyramid. Gibbins draws directly on his professional background in underwater archaeology to ground his thrillers in real historical mysteries and shipwreck investigation. His novels have sold more than three million copies and reached bestseller lists in the UK and US. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Society of Arts, and a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellow.
