David Nickle

David Nickle is a Canadian author, born in 1964 in Newmarket, Ontario, who began publishing science fiction and horror in 1992 and has built a career blending speculative premises with dark, often Lovecraftian horror. His novels include The Claus Effect (1997, with Karl Schroeder), which imagines a malevolent entity behind the Santa Claus mythos; Eutopia: A Novel of Terrible Optimism (2011), centered on a eugenics conspiracy; Rasputin's Bastards (2012), following supernatural Soviet operatives through the Cold War; The 'Geisters (2013); and Volk: A Novel of Radiant Abomination (2017). He has also published the short-story collections Monstrous Affections and Knife Fight and Other Struggles, and co-edited the anthologies The Exile Book of New Canadian Noir and Licence Expired: The Unauthorized Bond.
