David Pringle

David Pringle is a Scottish science fiction editor and critic, born in Selkirk in 1950. A founding figure of the magazine Interzone in 1982, he served as its sole editor and publisher from 1988 until selling it in 2004; under his editorship, Interzone won the 1995 Hugo Award for Best Semiprozine, and the 2005 Worldcon committee gave him a Special Award for his editorial contributions. Pringle compiled the influential reference works Science Fiction: The 100 Best Novels and Modern Fantasy: The 100 Best Novels, and edited numerous anthologies, including several Interzone collections, and media tie-in fiction for the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 game universes. He is also a leading J. G. Ballard scholar, having written the first book-length study of Ballard's work.
