Deborah Biancotti

Deborah Biancotti is an Australian writer of speculative fiction, born in 1971 in Cairns, Queensland, and based in Sydney. She began publishing short fiction in 2000 and quickly established herself as an award-winning voice in Australian genre writing, winning the Aurealis Award for "The First and Final Game," the Ditmar Award for best new talent, and the Australian Shadows Award for "Six Suicides." Her short work is collected in A Book of Endings (2009) and Bad Power (2011), blending crime, horror, and superhero tropes. She is also co-author, with Scott Westerfeld and Margo Lanagan, of the Zeroes trilogy, a young-adult series about teenagers with malfunctioning superpowers navigating a small California town, comprising Zeroes, Swarm, and Nexus.
